Albin Venner, 87 of Carroll, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence Choir. Song Leader will be Jean Knobbe. Mass servers will be: Jessica Venner, Brett Venner, and Derek Venner. Lectors for the funeral mass will be: Traci Kanne, Kelly Dorethy, Andrea Carrothers, and Kaila Venner. Gift Bearers will be: Grant Venner, Jared Venner, Nolan Venner, Riley Venner, John Paul Venner, and Logan Venner. Eucharistic ministers will be: JoAnn Rushenberg and Bob and Mary Pat Venner. Honorary casket bearers will be: Alec Carrothers, Jeff Campos, Aaron Kanne, Tyler Dorethy, Stef Venner and Kayla Venner. Casket bearers will be: Zain Rushenberg, Kyle Nolan, Rob Venner, Scott Venner, Josh Venner, and Megan Venner. The Carroll 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll with military honors conducted by the Arcadia American Legion.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. on Friday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. by the Carroll 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. by St. Lawrence Parish.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9 a.m. on Saturday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on January 31, 1925 at Breda, Iowa, Albin Frank Venner was the son of John H. and Maggie (Rutten) Venner. As a young boy his family moved to a farm northwest of Maple River and Albin attended St. Francis School in Maple River. Following his schooling he helped with his family farm operation and then served in the United States Army for two years. Upon his honorable discharge Albin returned to the Carroll area. On January 7, 1956 he married Rita Brincks at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple farmed west of Carroll where Albin was a grain and livestock farmer. In 1992 Albin and Rita moved into their home in Carroll. He loved spending time with his family, playing golf, and playing cards; especially euchre. Albin was a member of the Arcadia American Legion, Carroll 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll.
Survivors include his children: JoAnn Rushenberg and her husband Dennis of Tulsa, OK, Doris Nolan and her husband Steve of Phoenix, AZ, Jane Carrothers and her husband Mark of Omaha, NE, Bob Venner and his wife Mary Pat of Carroll, Don Venner and his wife Lisa of Omaha, NE, Jerry Venner and his wife Sara of Omaha, NE, and John Venner and his wife Theresa of Arnold, MO; 23 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy Bellinghausen of Maple River; his brother, Cyril (Anita) Venner of Arcadia; his in-laws: Jeanette Venner of Carroll, Paul (Irene) Brincks of Carroll, and JoAnn Brincks of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Albin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rita in August of 2003; his sisters: Helen Meister, Marie Redig, Florence Bellinghausen, and Rita Koester; and his brothers: Lawrence, Andrew, Clarence, Tony, and Ed Venner.
