Albert Nagl, 95 of Carroll, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Lector for the funeral mass will be Phil Phillips. Gift Bearer will be Elaine Corsbie. Eucharistic Minister will be Michelle Phillips. Casket Bearers will be Albert’s Grandsons: Mark, Matthew and Luke Nagl and Dan Balk, Tom Collison, and Dr. Bob Langenfeld. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. Wednesday where there will be a rosary at 5:30 p.m. The casket will be taken to Holy Spirit Church at 10 a.m. Thursday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for West Central Iowa Alzheimer’s Association.
Born on September 21, 1916 at Willey, Iowa, Albert M. Nagl was the son of John M. and Margaret (Schultes) Nagl. He spent his lifetime in the Carroll area and attended Sts. Peter and Paul School, later graduating from Carroll High School in 1935. On November 4, 1942 he married Cecilia Miller at St. Anthony Hospital Chapel in Carroll. Abe worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years as a mail carrier. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with family, walking to daily mass, sitting on his front porch, and watching the stock market. Abe was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Carroll.
Survivors include three daughters: Rosemary Nagl of Hyrum, Utah, Barb Frost of Carroll, and Joan Kanne and her husband Steve of Carroll; his daughter-in-law, Judy Nagl of Overland Park, Kansas; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lorene “Sister Mary Lourdes” Langenfeld of St. Louis, Missouri, and Helen (Bud) Meyers of Clear Lake; one brother, Omer (Grace) Langenfeld of Carroll; his sister-in-law, Gertrude Nagl of Carroll, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Cecilia in 1987; son John Nagl in 2000; infant granddaughter Sarah Kanne; one sister, Florence Westendorf; three brothers: Louis Nagl, Felix Langenfeld, and Vince Langenfeld.
