Vince Goetzinger, 87 of Roselle, died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll surrounded by his family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle. The Celebrant will be Fr. Shinoj Jose. Con-Celebrant will be Fr. Steve Brodersen. Music will be by Sue Feilmeier and the Holy Angels Choir. Mass Servers will be Grant and Logan Sibenaller. Lector will be Neil Goetzinger. Gift Bearers will be Deb Goetzinger and Bonnie Bock. Honorary Casket bearers will be Dawn Pasquariello, Kelly Lingo, Jaycie Schwenk, Ashley Klocke, Jordan Bock, Lisa Bock, and Chelsey Sapp. Casket Bearers will be Nick Goetzinger, Jarret Bock, Trevor Goetzinger, Nick Pasquariello, Sam Lingo, Ben Klocke, Michael Schwenk, and Dillon Feld. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, where there will be a rosary prayed at 5 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning from 9-10 a.m. at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Vince’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Born on January 12, 1931 at Roselle, Iowa, Vince was the son of Nic and Catherine (Bruning) Goetzinger. He grew up in Roselle, and attended Holy Angels School. Vince proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He took pride in being a Paratrooper and a member of the Special Forces. After his honorable discharge he returned to Roselle. He would become a life-long resident of the community. On June 30, 1954 Vince was united in marriage to Maxine Dirkx at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton, Iowa. The couple made their home in Roselle where Vince worked as a lifelong carpenter. In addition to his carpentry work, Vince and Maxine were co-owners of the Roselle Trio Tavern. Vince enjoyed trapping, trap-shooting, hunting, and fishing with his friend John Behrens. He also enjoyed playing baseball and softball, golfing, snowmobiling, casino trips, and trips to the dog-racing track. Most of all he enjoyed interacting with his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Vince was a member of the Pop-A-Top Snowmobile Club, Carroll American Legion, and a lifelong parishioner of Holy Angels Parish in Roselle. Left to celebrate Vince’s life is his wife: Maxine of Roselle; children: Tom (special friend: Kay Taylor) Goetzinger of Carroll, Deb Goetzinger of Carroll, Bonnie (Phil) Bock of Glidden, and Doug Goetzinger of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren: Dawn (Nick) Pasquariello, Kelly (Sam) Lingo, Nick (Chelsey Sapp) Goetzinger, Jarett (Lisa) Bock, Jaycie (Michael) Schwenk, Ashley (Ben) Klocke, Jordan (fiancé Dillon Feld) Bock, and Trevor Goetzinger; great-grandchildren: Olivia, Emma, Ava Pasquariello; Brooke, Molly Lingo; Skyler Goetzinger; Cooper, Paisley Bock; Kora, Keeley Klocke, with one more expected in March. Also surviving is his sister, Alma Brincks of Roselle; sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law: Merle (Marlene) Dirkx of El Paso, Tx, Speed (Mary Kay) Dirkx of Carroll, Cleo Wiskus of Exira, and Bob (Carole) Dirkx of Carroll, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Vince was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Irene (Tony) Lammers, Edwin (Rayneldis) Goetzinger, Alvin Goetzinger, Marcella (John) Guess, Leota (Benny) Miller, Rita (Carroll) Birch, Matt (Agnes) Goetzinger, Dottie (Kenny) Sieve, Clete (Darlene) Goetzinger, Elmer and Walter Goetzinger, both in infancy; also, Vince was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law: Clarence Brincks, Wanita (Ray) Schroeder, Marcellus Dirkx, Charles Wiskus, and Dave Dirkx.
