Patricia, the daughter of Jim & Cecelia (Gehling) Houlihan, was born on August 7, 1940 in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up in Carroll and attended school at St. Angela’s Academy. On October 18, 1958, Pat was united in marriage to Howard G. Drees at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple lived and raised their family in the Carroll area. Pat then threw her energies into raising six children and becoming one of the bookkeepers for Drees Co. Being a part of the community was important to Pat, so she became a Girl Scout leader. She loved to golf and later joined a women’s league at the Carroll Country Club. As her children grew, she joined a PEO and loved this new group of women. When she joined the real estate world, she got to know the Carroll community family even better by selling real estate through Wilson Real Estate and Carroll Area Real Estate. She was able to unveil the jewels of Carroll County through all of these life experiences in her personal and professional life. One mantra that she believed in and instilled in her children was, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say it at all.” ~ wanting us to be kind to each other. She modeled this by opening her home up to family and friends that came to visit. That was what she lived and what she leaves behind for us to continue. Left to celebrate her life is her beloved husband, Howard Drees of Carroll, her children: Michelle (Brett) Satterlee, Omaha, NE, Judy (Greg) Schreck, Carroll, Connie (Russ) Hoffman, Scranton, IA , Karen (Denny) Kasperbauer, Carroll, Howie (Sara) Drees, Carroll, and Holley Drees, Carroll. Grandchildren: Nick (Patti) Satterlee, Lisa (Nick) Bowdish, Jon (Abby) Schreck & Brian (Megan Wiederin) Schreck, Lynne (Jeremy Meyer) Gittings, Larie (Charlie) Brokaw, Cole Hoffman (Nicole), Patrick (Kayla) & Matthew McCarty, Madison, Alex (Aisha Miller) & Derek Drees, Josh (Heather Gimlin) & Courtney Miller and 16 great grandchildren. Her siblings: Jane (Dick) Wiederhold of Goodyear, AZ, Elaine (Steve) Schleisman of La Quinta, CA, and a brother, Michael (Beth) Houlihan of Minneapolis, MN. Brother and sisters-in-law; Don (Jane) Drees of Carroll and Dorothy Drees of Florida, as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives. Patricia was preceded in death by her son, Jerry in infancy, her parents, Jim & Cecelia Houlihan, her brother, Lee Houlihan, sisters-in-laws, Maxine Collison and LaVonne Daeges, brothers-in-law, Louis & Doug Drees.
