Mary Lou Hartl, age 81, of Carroll, died Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willey. The celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Music will be by Jane Heithoff and the St. Mary’s Choir. Lectors will be Lisa Smith and Carol Reinart. Gift Bearers will be Raelynn Kastle and Roxanne Reinart. Eucharistic Minister will be Betty Reinart. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Bill and Kathi Peters. Casket Bearers will be Matt Tigges, Mike Tigges, Tony Tigges, Jeff Reinart, John Reinart, Rodney Becker, and Jeff Hartl. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, a Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. The casket will be moved to St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Willey on Monday morning where visitation will resume from 9:30a to 10:15 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Mary Lou’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Mary Lou, the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy (Dufner) Reinart was born on June 22, 1940 in Halbur, Iowa. At a young age the family moved to Carroll where she attended Sts. Peter and Paul School and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1958. On June 1, 1963 Mary Lou was united in marriage to Joseph Hartl at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple made their home in Audubon County for a few years before moving to Willey in 1967. The couple remained in Willey until Joseph’s passing when she moved to Carroll in 1986. Over the years Mary Lou worked at Pauline’s Café, as a dispatcher at National Bi-Products, Tony’s Restaurant, M.C.’s Country Café until her retirement. After retirement Mary Lou kept busy by traveling, collecting clowns, weekly coffee sessions with family and friends, and most of all she enjoyed being around her family. She was a former parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willey, and current parishioner of St. Lawrence in Carroll. Survivors include her children: Donna Hartl of Carroll, and Keith Hartl of Carroll; siblings: Marlene Tigges of Carroll, Merlin (Betty) Reinart of Carroll, her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Otto (Ursala) Hartl of Hollister, MO, Helen Yager of Coon Rapids, Rose (Roger) Becker of Willey, Randy (Ann) Olesen of Bayard, Robert Hartl (Janine) of Audubon, as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph Hartl in 1982, parents-in-law Otto and Anna Hartl; sister- Margaret Reinart, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Mary Ann (Dwane) Miskimins; Charles Yager, Michael Hartl, Don Tigges; and niece Renee Reinart.
