The daughter of John and Rosalia (Berens) Lutwitze, Lucille was born on June 29, 1924 at Halbur, Iowa. Before she met her husband Edward, Lucille lived in Halbur, Manson, Lanesboro, and Carroll. Lucille graduated from St. Angela’s Academy in Carroll and soon began working for the phone company in Carroll. She was married to her sweetheart, Edward Nobiling on February 14, 1949 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Carroll. Lucille and Ed farmed their entire lifetime in Arcadia, Carroll, and Glidden. They spent their retirement years at 1159 Skyline Drive in Carroll. She enjoyed traveling, sight seeing and often traveled out of state, but refused to fly anywhere or get on a boat. She loved scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast and enjoyed ice cream anytime of the day. The last thing she ate was chocolate ice cream; she loved it! Four years ago, she decided to live in the country with her son Mark to enjoy freedom, privacy, protection, and the independence of rural life. She loved the farm animals and enjoyed watching the wildlife the city did not have. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her orchids, and eating fruit from the citrus trees growing in the house. She often mentioned that she regretted retiring to town, as did her husband Ed. Out of all her children, Bryce was her favorite without a doubt. Bryce had special needs and they shared a loving symbiosis that remains forever. Lucille was member of St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Lucille is survived by her children: Rose Weaver, Mary Cain, Barb Davis, Linda Olerich, Lois Kasperbauer, Mark Nobiling, Bryce Nobiling, Glenn Nobiling, and Paula Lambertz; her grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; and her sister, Rose Marie Iler. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward; and her siblings, Dave Lutwitze, and Jacque Waite.
