Lou Ann Otto

February 4, 1933 - January 19, 2022

Lou Ann (Wolterman) Otto, 88 of Carroll, Iowa passed away on January 19,2022 from complications of a stroke. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022, at St. John Paul II Parish – St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Behm. Music will be by Kathy Halbur. Lectors will be Nicole Hesseltine, Abbey Thomas, and Jessica Felder. Gift Bearers will be Justin Boshoven, Jake Fitzsimmons, and Taylor Otto. Eucharistic Minister will be Jeff Fitzsimmons. Casket Bearers will be Tyler Otto, Megan Starman, Andy Boshoven, Christine Otto, Mitch Fitzsimmons, Stephen Otto, Tommy Fitzsimmons, and Nick Fitzsimmons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2022, at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Additional visitation will be from 9-9:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Lou Ann’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Lou Ann was born on February 4, 1933, in Dedham, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Florence (Goecke) Wolterman. In her early years she and her family moved to Templeton Iowa, where she spent the remainder of her childhood. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Templeton as Valedictorian in 1950. Lou Ann married Clair Otto of Mount Carmel in 1954. They spent a couple years in Germany while Clair was in the military. After moving back from overseas they settled in Carroll, where she lived throughout the rest of her life. Lou Ann enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, working on crossword puzzles and spending time with friends and family. She loved the color pink, had an amazing memory and a wicked funny sense of humor. She was proud of the fact that she was still mowing the lawn into her eighties and her favorite part of the meal was dessert. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she had an impressive Santa Claus collection. Lou Ann was a devout member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Lou Ann is survived by her husband of 67 years, Clair; her 5 children Joe (Val) Otto, Laura (Mark) Boshoven, Sheryl (Tim) Carlisle, Barb (Jeff) Fitzsimmons, and Steve Otto and 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Lou Ann is also survived by her brother Harlan (Jan) Wolterman and her sisters Maxine Gingery, Wanita Rolfes and Linda Klocke and many nieces and nephews. Lou Ann was preceded in death by her parents Florence (Goecke) and Lawrence Wolterman, her sisters Patricia Eskens and Beth Klocke, and two grandsons Michael Otto and Bradley Carlisle.
