Lois J. Duffy, age 85, of Carroll died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music will be provided by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Ben Parrott and Colin Parrott will serve as lectors. Gift Bearers will be Patrick and Mary Parrott. Casket Bearers will be Ben Parrott, Colin Parrott, Joshua Eberle and Noah Eberle. Burial will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery near Vail. Visitation will begin at the church at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 and continue until the time of the funeral mass. Memorials may be left at the church to be directed to Holy Spirit Parish. Born on July 1, 1931 at Carroll, Iowa, Lois was the daughter of Albert and Josephine Duffy. She spent her younger years in the Maple River, Arcadia, and Vail communities, and in 1949 she graduated from St. Angela’s Academy. She was employed her entire working career as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in Carroll. Lois enjoyed bingo, caring for animals, socializing at the congregate meals, baking cookies, collecting snowmen, spending time with her friends and family, listening to country music, especially Alan Jackson, and taking walks. Lois was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and Holy Spirit Parish. Lois is survived by her niece and nephews: Michael (Cathy) Parrott of Spokane, WA, Patrick (Mary) Parrott of Spirit Lake, IA and Mary Jo (Steve) Eberle of Bedford, TX; seven great-nieces and great-nephews, and nine great-great-nieces and nephews; as well as many cousins and other extended relatives. Lois was preceded in death by her parents: Albert and Josephine Duffy, her brother Edward Duffy, her sister Rita Olberding Parrott, and a great-niece Andrea Parrott Ondarza.
