Lillian May Eischeid, age 97, of Carroll, passed away, Sunday, March 10, 2019 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019 at St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Music will be by Dr. Franklyn Busby, Pastoral Musician, and the Holy Spirit Resurrection Choir. Lectors will be Mindy Skillen, Nicole Anderson, and Sidney Morrison. Gift Bearers will be Tom Sporrer and Randy O’Neill. Eucharistic Minister will be Pat Bass. Casket Bearers will be Robert Sporrer, Mindy Skillen, Nicole Anderson, Sam Schmitt, Anne Schmitt, Tim Heithoff, and Ivy Heithoff. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the church, and continue until the time of the mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Lillian’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Lillian was born on December 22, 1921, at Manning, Iowa to Robert and Katherina (Petersen) Sinow. Lillian met her husband, and love of her life, Joseph Eischeid at a New Year’s Eve dance in Manning, Iowa. They were married on February 28, 1949, in Manning, and were married for 63 wonderful years. They made their home in Carroll, Iowa, where Lillian was a housewife and mother, but also held jobs Burke Hotel, and her favorite position as receptionist at son-in-law, Tom Sporrer’s, cabinet shop, the Carroll Cabinet Company. Lillian made sure everyone had a birthday cake, and always had a cookie jar full of homemade cookies for every visitor. She loved to travel at an early age with her Grandpa Petersen, and later traveled with family across the United States. She was a three-time cancer survivor and true fighter. She was a part of the Breast Cancer Support Group and Holy Spirit Women’s Guild. Lillian loved to read, camp, sew and crochet. She most enjoyed time spent with family and grandchildren around the campfire or dining room table. She is survived by her daughters, Joan (Tom) Sporrer of Council Bluffs, IA, Lynn Schmitt of Carroll, IA, Wanda (Randy) O’Neill of Carroll, IA, 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Lillian was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Joseph Eischeid, son-in-law, Jim Schmitt, brothers Ray and Roy Sinow, Hank (Arlene) Sinow, sisters, Elsie (Louie) Hargens, Helen (Freddie) Hansen, Marie (Ray) Worley, Enid Sinow in infancy, in-laws; Viola (Ed) Drees, Helen (Leo) Heithoff, Earl Eischeid, Milton Eischeid, Andy (Marie) Eischeid, Ervin (Gloria) Eischeid, Kenny (Mary) Eischeid, and Melvin Eischeid in infancy.
