Mass of the Christian Burial for Lawrence G. Sibenaller of Carroll will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle. Mr. Sibenaller, 95, died of natural causes on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at St. Anthony’s Nursing Home in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Fr. Gary Snyder will concelebrate the Mass. Lectors will be Beth Sibenaller and Krista Sibenaller. Gift bearers will be Abby Woodall, Elizabeth Swanson, and Sarah Burns. Eucharistic ministers will be Kate Schiller and Madison Seda, and Mass servers will be Alaina Sibenaller and Charli Sibenaller. Casket bearers will be grandsons, Phil Sibenaller, Nick Sibenaller, Greg Sibenaller, Lucas Riesselman, Weston Riesselman, Eric Sibenaller, Ben Woodall, and Jack Seda. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Rupiper, Gerald Hahn, Steve Hahn, Jerry Riesenberg, Jim Riesberg, Denny Olerich, Carl Brincks, Jerry Rupiper, David Hoffmann, Dale Behrens, Dave Brincks, and Neal Rupiper. Burial will be in the Holy Angels Cemetery in Roselle with military honors by the Carroll American Legion. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. A rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. by the Carroll Knights of Columbus. A Christian wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 12-12:45 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the Sibenaller family at www.sharpfuneral.com. A son of Michael and Frances (Hoffman) Sibenaller, Lawrence was born on July 12, 1926 near Roselle and attended Holy Angels Grade School. He entered the Army in August 1945 and served as part of the 1st Infantry Regiment in Korea during World War II. He was honorably discharged in January 1947. He and Mary Ann Niehaus were married on November 10, 1953, at St. John the Baptist Church in Arcadia, Iowa. Lawrence loved his work on the family farm, raising cattle and hogs. He enjoyed playing cards, supporting his grandchildren’s activities, and connecting with neighbors and friends throughout the community. He was a lifelong member of Holy Angels Parish until its closing. Survivors include his wife of nearly 68 years, Mary Ann, and children: Dr. Zita Sibenaller (John Hornberger) of Iowa City, Laura (James) Burns of Kennewick, WA, Michael (Janet) Sibenaller of Hornick, Doris (Dean) Riesselman of Boone, Neil (Darcy) Sibenaller of Odebolt, Beth (Phil) Woodall of Sutherland, and Ann (John) Seda of Urbandale, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Anita Williams of Austin, MN and Olga Sibenaller of St. Louis, MO, sisters-in-law Clara Sibenaller and Caroline Niehaus, a brother-in-law, Roland (Joyce) Niehaus, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Edward (Sophia) Sibenaller, Helen (Cyril) Williams, Rita (Lambert) Hackfort, Gregory Sibenaller, Eugene (Lois) Sibenaller, Agnes and Lambert Sibenaller in infancy, half-brother Fr. Joseph Sibenaller, half-sister Catherine (Frank) Steffes, his parents-in-law Henry and Elizabeth Niehaus, brothers-in-law Leroy (Corinne) Niehaus, Ralph Niehaus, Anthony Williams and sister-in-law Arlene (Kenneth) Schroeder. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Angels Forever, the Carroll American Legion, or St. Anthony’s Memory Care.
