Florence Fledderman

January 14, 1924 - August 10, 2019

Florence Fledderman, age 95, of Gretna, Nebraska and formerly of Carroll, died Saturday evening, August 10, 2019 at Silver Ridge Assisted Living in Gretna. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at St. John Paul II Parish, St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Music will be by Kate Cuddy and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lector will be Steve Hall. Gift Bearers will be Jacquie Dugan, Wendy Hall, and Kristine Kreifels. Casket Bearers will be Matt Dugan, Russ Bruhn, George Grossman, Brad Irlbeck, and Frank Nogel. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home after 5 p.m. on Monday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 p.m. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church on Tuesday morning where visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Florence’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Florence, the daughter of Wenz and Clara (Sextro) Sporrer was born on January 14, 1924 on the family farm east of Templeton, Iowa. She attended Sacred Heart School in Templeton. On November 28, 1944 Florence was united in marriage to Clarence Fledderman at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dedham. The couple farmed near Dedham where Florence raised her family, and helped with the farming operation. The couple retired to Carroll in the early 1980’s. Florence enjoyed gardening, she canned or froze countless jars and bags of produce. She also enjoyed her flowers especially roses. During retirement she enjoyed volunteering with R.S.V.P., helping with various blood drives, and mailings for the church and Carroll Chamber. She also enjoyed quilting. Most of all Florence enjoyed visiting and talking with her family and friends. She was a member of St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. Florence is survived by her children: Dale (Mary) Fledderman of Omaha, and Joyce (Galin Karpisek) Fledderman of Omaha; grandchildren: Jacquie (Matt) Dugan of Omaha, Wendy (Steve) Hall of Omaha, and Kristine (Wayne) Kreifels of Fremont, NE; and eight great-grandchildren; as well as her extended family and friends. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Fledderman; her parents Clara and Wenz Sporrer, sisters: Rita (Clayton) Irlbeck, Delores (Bernard) Klocke; and her brother Ray (Bernice) Sporrer.
