A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Pick. Music will be by Julie Sibbel. Lectors will be John Dalhoff and Randy Dalhoff. Casket Bearers will be Carol Franzina, David Franzina, Bill Dalhoff, John Dalhoff, Randy Dalhoff, and Jason Dalhoff. A public Committal Service will be held at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at St. Augustine Cemetery in Halbur. Those in attendance are asked to wear a face covering and abide by social distancing guidelines. There will be no public visitation. A recording of Edna’s service will be available after the service on the Sharp Funeral Home YouTube page at this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqd2eeRJk5RTdEJoEooUoAQ In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed in Edna’s name to the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation or St. Anthony Hospice. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Edna’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Edna Kathryn Theresa Herbers was born on December 24, 1928 on the family farm home near Halbur, Iowa. Edna was the daughter of Joseph and Margaretha (Werder) Herbers. She received her education at St. Augustine School, Halbur and St. Angela Academy, Carroll. On September 7, 1949 she married Elmer Dalhoff at St. Augustine Church, Halbur. They made their home on an acreage outside of Halbur. Elmer passed away in 2005 and in 2015 Edna moved to Swan Place Retirement Community in Carroll. Edna enjoyed being with family and friends, doing needlework- especially cross-stitch, playing cards and other games, reading and traveling throughout the states (49 of them), various areas of Canada, Mexico and Europe as well as islands of the West Indies. She was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Parish, St. Augustine Ladies Guild and the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary. In addition to volunteering several years at New Hope Village store, she was also active in Halbur U projects. She is survived by three sons, Randy (Jo Anne) of Ames, Iowa, John (Barbara) of Ames, Iowa, Bill (Ann) of Chanhassen, Minnesota and daughter Carol (David) Franzina of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Tami (Patrick) Donovan, Jason (Heather) Dalhoff, Tony Dalhoff and Kristin Dalhoff and three great grandchildren, Wesley and Brianna Donovan and Haden Dalhoff; sister Trudy Esser; sisters-in-law Arlene Dalhoff, Patti Hesch, Mary Lou Maranell, JoAnn Stransky and Darlene Dalhoff; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, parents-in-law, Fred and Anna Dalhoff, brother, Orry Herbers, sisters, Helene Heithoff, Margaret Petsche and Marie Rotert, in-laws, Virgil Dalhoff, Elmer and Arlene Heiman, Francis (Frank) and Louise Dalhoff, John and Marjorie Gehling, Fred and Alene Dalhoff, Joseph Dalhoff, Gerald (Jerry) Dalhoff, Raymond (Ray) Hesch, Donald (Don) Luchtel, Richard (Dick) Maranell, John Stransky, David (Gus) Dalhoff, Clarus Heithoff, Harold Petsche, Joseph Rotert, Berdine Herbers and Roland Esser, a niece, Cheryl Heithoff, nephews, Harold Rotert, Lee Luchtel and Fred Dalhoff, and nephews-in-law, Greg Gaze, Michael Smith, Don Pottebaum, Marty Pottebaum, Terry Wright and William (Bill) Dessauer.
