After his formal education Duane worked at the Wall Lake Lumber Yard, an Asphalt Paving Crew in South Dakota, and various farmers before beginning to farm for himself. In addition to farming, Duane served as the town Cop in Halbur and Breda, and supplied security for many celebrations around the county. Duane enjoyed living a simple life.
