Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church- St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Music will be by Kate Cuddy. Lectors will be Ann Meiners and Beth Hudson. Casket Bearers will be Nick Goblirsch, Matt Goblirsch, Patrick Mahan, Jake Hudson, Barry Meiners, Tyson Meiners and Cameron Meiners. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church on Wednesday where visitation without greeting the family will be held from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Those in attendance of all services are required to wear a face covering and abide by COVID 19 social distancing procedures. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kuemper Catholic Schools Tuition Assistance Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Ann’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Ann, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Erlbacher) Bissen was born on October 17, 1929 at Buck Grove, Iowa. She grew up on a farm near Defiance and graduated from St. Peter’s High School. On May 12, 1952 Ann was united in marriage to Linus Goblirsch at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance. The couple moved to Carroll in 1965, and Ann was employed with Safeway for 17 years, and later Spurgeons, and Good News Bookstore. After the passing of Linus, Ann married La Vern Christiansen on December 27, 1986 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. As a secret Hawkeye fan; she enjoyed sports, especially bowling, and was an avid Bridge player. Ann was very active at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Over the years she served as a Eucharistic Minister, on the Ladies Guild, and assisted with (Rugs for the Church). Ann was also a member of the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas and St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary. Ann is survived by her children: Mary (Tom) Schoeppner of Templeton, and Joe (Pat) Goblirsch of Jesup. She is also survived by her step-children: Mary Ann Wilhelmi of Colorado, Bob Christiansen of California, and Kathleen DePedro of Texas, grandchildren: Ann (Barry) Meiners of Ankeny, Beth (Jake) Hudson of Ankeny, Nick (Randall) Goblirsch of Davenport, Matt (Sarah) Goblirsch of Cedar Falls, and Leah (Patrick) Mahan of Smryna, GA; 7 great-grandchildren: Cameron, Tyson Meiners, Luke, Nora, Kate Goblirsch, Jack and Henry Mahan; a sister: Benita Schiltz of Earling, and a brother: Marvin Bissen of Harlan; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Ann was preceded in death by her parents Anna and Joseph Bissen, husbands Linus Goblirsch, La Vern Christiansen, a step-son Bill Christiansen and brothers: Francis (Marce) Bissen, Leonard (Bernice) Bissen; and in-laws: Helen Bissen, and Tony Schiltz.
