Agnes Goetzinger Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Agnes Goetzinger, 87 of Carroll, died Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Mass servers will be: Haley Heithoff, Kate Ramaekers, and Cate Mayhall. Music will be by Barb McDermott, Holy Spirit Choir, with John Wagner as soloist. Special music will be by: Leah Dietrich, Anna Hart, Alyssa Wiedemeier, Betsy Wiedemeier, Emily Wiedemeier and Nick Wiedemeier. Lectors for the funeral mass will be Lori Goetzinger and Danielle Tibben. Gift Bearers will be Mollie, Maggie, and Mattie Hurd. Eucharistic Minister for the funeral mass will be Marian Koster. Casket Bearers will be: Carl Wiedemeier, Nick Wiedemeier, Sam Goetzinger, Austin Goetzinger, and Andy Goetzinger. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass. Agnes was born on March 7, 1928 at Carroll, Iowa the daughter of John Peter and Johanna (Hoffman) Sibenaller. She spent her younger years in Roselle and attended Holy Angels School. On April 19, 1955, Agnes was united in marriage to Matt Goetzinger at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle with Fr. Richard Graf officiating. The couple made their home in Carroll where Agnes raised her family and was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, shopping, and the many family vacations over the years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Agnes was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Survivors include her children: Dale Goetzinger of Carroll, Becky Wiedemeier and her husband Mike of Carroll, Neil Goetzinger and his wife Lori of Carroll, Jenny Goetzinger of Carroll and Karen Hurd and her husband Brent of Carroll; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Carolyn Sibenaller of Carroll; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Alma Brincks of Roselle, Dottie Sieve of Carroll, Vincent (Maxine) Goetzinger of Roselle, and Phyllis Sibenaller of Carroll; as well as several nieces, nephews, other extended relatives. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Matt in May of 1995; her siblings: Peter J. Sibenaller, Albert Sibenaller, Dominic Sibenaller, Ann Taphorn, Louis Sibenaller, Mary Sibenaller, and Rose Sibenaller.
