Irma Knobbe

Irma Knobbe, 79 of Breda, died Wednesday, January 04, 2012 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at St. Bernard’s Church in Breda. The Celebrant will be Fr. Lynn Bruch. Mass servers will be Sam Kemper and Miriah Masching. Music will be by Marilyn Hundling and the St. Bernard’s Choir. Lectors will be Jennifer Redmond, Ann Feldmann, and Tony Knobbe. Gift Bearers will be Irma’s granddaughters: Kayla, Krista, and Miranda Knobbe, and Jessica and Rachel Sherburne. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Ken Feldmann and Mark and Barb Hoffman. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Irma’s grandsons: Reed, Ryan, and Ross Knobbe, and Jacob and Ben Sherburne. Casket Bearers will be: Tim Eason, Mark Vonnahme, Jon Pudenz, Stan Pudenz, Randy Pudenz, and Kevin Pudenz. Burial will be at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Breda. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda after 2:30 p.m. Friday where there will be a rosary prayed at 3 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service by St. Bernard’s Parish at 5:30 p.m. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation. Born on November 3, 1932 at Carroll, Iowa, Irma was the daughter of Albert and Rose (Wiederin) Pudenz. She attended grade school and high school at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. On August 21, 1951 she married Mello Knobbe at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Following their marriage, Mello and Irma farmed and resided on the Knobbe Farm 7 1/2 miles east of Breda where she lived nearly her entire lifetime. Whether it was helping her husband with the farm operation, mowing the lawn, or tending to her gardens, Irma loved the outdoors. She loved to cook and bake for her family and enjoyed taking her son’s meals while they were in the field. Irma loved the time spent with her family especially her grandchildren. Throughout her lifetime she was active in the St. Bernard’s Parish with the ladies guild, parish choir, or any function within the church. In 2009 Irma became a resident at Sunnybrook of Carroll and thoroughly enjoyed the staff, residents, and the various activities. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Parish in Breda, and the Breda Foresters. Survivors include her children: Kim Sherburne and her husband Glen of New Sharon, Russ Knobbe and his wife Kimberly of Carroll, and Craig Knobbe and his wife Shannon of Carroll; ten grandchildren: Kayla, Krista, Miranda, Reed, Ryan, and Ross Knobbe, and Jessica, Rachel, Jacob, and Ben Sherburne; her sisters: Marian Boes of Spring Green, WI, and Alice (LuVerne) Vonnahme of Storm Lake; her brothers: Arthur (Millie) Pudenz of Kansas City, MO, Kenneth (Karen) Pudenz of Harrisburg, MO, and Fred (Teresa) Pudenz of Omaha, NE; her sister-in-law, Mary Jane Pudenz of Minnesota, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Irma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Mello in October 2006; her son, Terry Knobbe; her granddaughter, Addison Knobbe; her sister, Thelma Timmerman; and her brother, Paul Pudenz.
