Elaine Sporrer

Elaine Sporrer, age 90 of Templeton, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. The Celebrant will be Fr. Steven Brodersen. Music will be by Jeanne Kerkhoff and the Sacred Heart Men’s Choir. Mass servers will be Elaine’s great grandchildren: Payton and Shyanne Sporrer. Lectors for the funeral mass will be Elaine’s granddaughters: Andrea Haselhoff and Angie Williams. Elaine’s grandson, Adam Sporrer will deliver the eulogy. Gift bearers will be Elaine’s granddaughters: Tessa Sporrer and Nicole Sporrer; and Elaine’s great granddaughters: Clare and Ella Haselhoff. Eucharistic ministers will be Elaine’s son Dave Sporrer and his wife Sylvia and Donna Kemper. Casket Bearers will be Elaine’s grandchildren: Katie Sporrer, Phil Sporrer, Tony Sporrer, Danielle Weide, Tim Sporrer, and Tyler Sporrer. The Templeton Catholic Daughters of Americas will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. on Friday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. by the Templeton Catholic Daughters of Americas and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. by Sacred Heart Parish. The casket will be moved to Sacred Heart Church at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation. Born on October 8, 1922 at Dedham, Iowa, Elaine was the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Pletchette) Klocke. She spent her childhood in the Dedham area and attended St. Joseph’s School through the 8th grade. On April 10, 1945 she married Clarence “Doc” Sporrer at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. Following their marriage they farmed near Dedham for a brief time and then purchased the current Sporrer family farm in Templeton. Elaine was a dedicated housewife raising her children and enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and canning the fruits of her labors. In 1978 following the passing of her husband she moved into Templeton to her new home. She was an avid card player, enjoying her various card clubs and always enjoyed trips to the casino and playing bingo. She had as deep devotion to her faith and loved her entire family dearly. Elaine was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, and the Templeton Catholic Daughters of Americas. Elaine is survived by her children: Tom Sporrer and his wife Eileen of Manning, Sue Romey of Carroll, Larry Sporrer of Templeton, Ken Sporrer and his wife Pat of Templeton, Keith Sporrer and his wife Michele of Templeton, Dave Sporrer and his wife Sylvia of Templeton, Marty Sporrer of Templeton, and Randy Sporrer and his wife Vanda of Valencia, CA; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her sisters: Luella Klein of Carroll, Kathleen Irlmeier of Audubon, Leana (Don) Kalkhoff of Templeton, Leona Erps of Denison, Carol (Eugene) Hoffman of Carroll; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Cecil Cox of Harlan, Mary Klocke of Carroll, Lorraine Klocke of Dedham, Joseph (Mary Kay) Sporrer of Dedham, Harold (Rita) Sporrer of Manning, Mary Trecker of Carroll, and Arlene Kasperbauer of Dedham; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence “Doc” Sporrer in November of 1978; her sisters: Jeanette Klocke and Evangeline Cox; and her brothers: Joseph, Louis, and Harry Klocke.
