Dale H. Snyder

Dale Snyder, 78 of Breda, died Friday evening, October 3, 3014 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Breda. The Celebrant will be Fr. Gary Snyder. Music will be by Marilyn Hundling and the St. Bernard’s Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Sean Schroeder. Gift Bearers will be: Stefanie Venner, Jennifer Brockway and Kristin Fertig. Eucharistic Minister will be Barb Langel. Casket Bearers will be: Brett Schwarzkopf, Chad Fertig, Kurt Fertig, Rob Venner, Matt Brockway and Sean Schroeder. Burial will be at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Breda. The Breda Catholic Order of Foresters will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Monday at St. Bernard's Church in Breda where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. by the Breda Catholic Order of Foresters and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be left at the church for the American Cancer Society. Dale was born on December 17, 1935 at Carroll, Iowa the son of Vincent and Helen (Pick) Snyder. He attended St. Bernard’s grade school and later graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in 1953. On August 17, 1957 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Broich at St. Mary’s Church in Willey. Dale worked for Ocken Furniture in Breda laying carpet and floor covering in his early years. In 1959, he started farming and joined his father in the business of Snyder Hog Market and Breda Truck Line until 1982. Dale was then engaged in grain and livestock farming until his retirement in 2000. Dale’s greatest joy in life was his entire family and he dearly enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities. Dale also enjoyed fishing, traveling; especially to Branson, gardening, bus trips, playing cards, and having coffee with his friends. He was a member of St. Bernard’s Parish where he was active as an usher and greeter for funerals for many years and was also a longtime member of the Breda Catholic Order of Foresters. Dale is survived by his wife Marilyn of Breda; two daughters: Pat Schwarzkopf and her husband Tom of Breda and Sharon Fertig and her husband Dale of Wall Lake; his grandchildren: Stefanie Venner and her husband Rob of Council Bluffs, Jennifer Brockway and her husband Matt of North Liberty, Brett Schwarzkopf of Breda, Chad Fertig and his wife Kayla of Wall Lake, Kristin Fertig and her fiancé Sean Schroeder of Bayard, and Kurt Fertig of Wall Lake; his great-grandchildren, Paysen and Cadence Venner; his sister, Kathleen (Gary) Stork of Omaha; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert Broich of Carroll, Clayton (Bernita) Broich of Carroll, John (Mary Jo) Broich of Carroll, Delores (Vern) Langel of Omaha, Joleen (Ronald) Klocke of Carroll, Laurel Jean (Denis) Heithoff of Carroll, Yvonne Broich of Carroll and Doris Broich of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his son Michael in 1982; his parents-in-law, John and Emilia Broich; his sister-in-law, Edra Broich; and his brothers-in-law: Marvin, Tom, and Jerry Broich.
