Charlotte Thorn

Charlotte Ann (Campbell) Thorn of Carroll, Iowa passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 70 on Thursday, December 29, 2022 surrounded by her kids and close family. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. David Hagen of Carroll First officiating. Casket Bearers will be Jeromie Wanser, Jeremy Thorn, Gage Thorn, Nicholas Thorn, Tanner Thorn, Brandon Wanser. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Ava Thorn, Mercedes Wanser, Danny Thorn, and Xzavia Rebhuhn. Burial will be at Merle Hay Cemetery in Glidden. A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Charlotte was born on September 26th, 1952 to Arthur and Betty (Gregory) Campbell. Charlotte attended school in Sac City, Iowa. After school she then met her forever love, Nick Thorn. To this union they had four children Todd, David, Tammy, and Tanya. They raised their four children on a farm between Glidden and Coon Rapids Iowa. Charlotte had the joy of being a stay-at-home mother and farm wife until her children were in school. Charlotte then held various jobs as a CNA with her last job being at the Carroll Health Center for 27 years. She cared for many residents during her time as a CNA. She took care of each resident with honor and respect as if they were her own parents. She was a mentor to many who worked by her side encouraging these same values. Through her work she gained many close friendships with her co-workers, as they would get together for fun gatherings outside of work. Charlotte enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and going to the casino with her family. Charlotte's family and friends often mentioned that she could bring joy to any room and make a lot of people smile. Charlotte loved spending quality time with her family whether that was family trips or even just gathering as a family and visiting. Charlotte's greatest pride and joy was watching her grandchildren grow and spending a lot of time with them. She walked every step and every milestone with them. Charlotte also had two very loved cats Benny and Tabby. Left to cherish her life are her children: Todd (Jennifer) Thorn of Panora, Tammy Rebhuhn of Carlisle, Tanya (Jim) Wanser of Carroll, her grandchildren Adam Kiefer, Jeromie Wanser, Nicholas Thorn, Mercedes Wanser, Tanner Thorn, Gage Thorn, Brandon Wanser, Xzavia Rebhuhn, and Ava Thorn and three great-grandchildren. Brother Robert Campbell, In-laws Linda Campbell, Sandi Campbell, Carla Campbell, Ginger and Jim Thorn, and Diane and Ronald Buchman. She was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, and many other people who she treated as her own family. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband Nick Thorn, son David Thorn, granddaughter Shannesy Rebhuhn, parents Betty and Arthur Campbell, brothers Alexander, John, William, and Joseph; sister in law Bonnie Campbell, mother and father-in-law June and Howard Thorn.
