Harold and Rita were such encouragers to me —humble, kind, and unwavering in their faith and purpose: to love others well.

They had a rare gift for making everyone feel special. They introduced me to the best chocolate at Christmas. I will never forget when they brought the General Lee car at Thanksgiving for all the Lydia House children to see and others, too. Whether you were family, friend, or stranger, Harold and Rita had a way of looking at you that said, you matter. Their words lifted spirits, their presence offered comfort, and their lives overflowed with warmth and grace.

Harold’s compassion knew no bounds. With open hands and an open heart to the hungry, the homeless, and the forgotten—never out of obligation, but out of deep, abiding love. What he gave went far beyond food or shelter; he offered dignity, hope, and human connection. This passion for others has spilled over to Joel, Kevin and Leon.

At the heart of everything Harold did was a steadfast faith. His life was rooted in a quiet but powerful trust in God—a faith that moved him to serve, to give, and to love unconditionally. That faith was his compass, strength, and the source of the compassion he poured out into others.

Well done good and faithful servant, I would love to hear just one more time, ” Praise the Lord”
