Mary Lechtenberg, 92 of Carroll, died surrounded by family, Thursday morning December 4, 2025, at Rolling Meadows Senior Living in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at St. John Paul II Parish — Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Behm. Music will be by Kathy Halbur and Carly Schieffer. Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Erica Schieffer. Gift Bearers are Carly Schieffer, Mary Grace Schieffer and Phoebe Schieffer. Honorary Casket Bearers are August Lechtenberg and Elise Lechtenberg. Casket Bearers will be Justin Schieffer, Michael Schieffer, Silas Schieffer, Brady Schieffer, Nick Jensen and Nate Jensen. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will precede the Funeral Mass from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Memorials may be left at the church for later designation.

Mary was born in the family home in Maple River, Iowa, on Christmas Day 1932 to Mary (Janning) and Frank Lambertz. The family spent four years in Maple River prior to them moving to Carroll. Mary graduated from Carroll High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Vernon B. Lechtenberg in Carroll on November 27, 1961.
Mary worked in the Carroll County Courthouse for more than fifty years. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting for family and friends, especially baby afghans for newborns at St. Anthony Hospital as well as spending time with her family and dogs and nature viewing at Swan Lake.
Left to honor her memory are her children: Linda (Gary) Jensen of Carroll and Kevin (Yasmin) Lechtenberg of Anchorage, AK; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sisters Evelyn Bowser and Cathy Christensen; sister-in-Law Barb Lambertz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Vern in 1992; her parents; brothers Art (Alice) Lambertz, Leo (Lois) Lambertz and Joe Lambertz; sister Elva (Lyle) Bernholtz; brothers-in-law Virgil Christensen, Henry Lechtenberg, Louis (Dorothy) Lechtenberg, Floyd Lechtenberg and Loren (Nancy) Lechtenberg; sisters-in-law Jeanette (Al) Siepker, Alice (Bob) Trafford and Louise (Leo) Stuhr.
