Lavon Irlbeck, age 70, of Carroll, Iowa, and formerly of the Arcadia and Westside communities, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Private Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, February 28, 2009, at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll from 3 P.M. until 7 P.M. Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left at the funeral home for St. Anthony Hospital or the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation. Lavon Irlbeck was born on February 8, 1939, at Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Albert J. and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Irlbeck. She spent her younger years in the Arcadia community and attended St. John School and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1957. In 1960 she moved to Denver, Colorado, where she was employed as a legal secretary. From October 1970 until her retirement in September 1999 she served as Assistant Circuit Executive for the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver. In February 2008 she returned to the Carroll area to be closer to her family. She was a lifetime member of the Colorado Historical Society. Ms. Irlbeck enjoyed her family, writing poetry, quilting, embroidery, genealogy, and returning to Iowa in the spring and fall. Survivors include her sisters, Alice Steinkamp and her husband Luvern of Adams, Minn., and Marie Berg and her husband Gerald of Arcadia; brothers, Larry Irlbeck and his wife Joyce of Westside, Allen Irlbeck and his wife Sue of Avoca, and Elmer Irlbeck and his wife Linda of Westside; a sister-in-law, Marijane Irlbeck of Racine, Minn.; many nieces and nephews; and many friends in Denver, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Edwin Irlbeck.
