Jessie Kraus, age 83, of Breda, Iowa, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M., Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at St. Bernard Church in Breda. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. Con-celebrant and Homilist will be Father Ed Girres. Lectors will be Angie Berg and Beth Auen. Gift Bearers will be Sara, Josh, and Emma Hamilton. Mass Servers will be Matt Wessling and Jake Buelt. Eucharistic Ministers will be June Bernholtz and Madonna Boeckman. Casket Bearers will be Steve Haley, Tom Auen, Rod Berg, Dick Henrich, Tom Henrich, and John Walker. Burial will be at St. Bernard Cemetery in Breda. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda after 3:30 P.M. Monday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Monday by St. Bernard Ladies Guild. There will be a Christian wake service at 7:30 P.M. Monday by St. Bernard Parish. Jessie Kraus was born on April 8, 1926, at Nottingham, England, the daughter of Percy and Mary (Davis) Staniforth. She spent her younger years and received her formal education in Nottingham. On September 14, 1944, she was married to Reinold Kraus at Our Lady of St. Patrick Church in Nottingham, England. She came to the United States in June 1946 and became a United States citizen on April 12, 1957 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She made her home in Early and later moved to Breda where she was employed by the Breda Creamery and later at the Carroll Manor Nursing Home in Carroll. She also was the housekeeper for several Priests at St. Bernard Parish in Breda. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Parish Ladies Guild. She enjoyed her family, fishing, and watching television. Survivors include her son, Ray Kraus and his wife Nancy of Carroll; four grandchildren, Sara Hamilton and her husband Josh, Steve Haley and his wife Cathy, Beth Auen and her husband Tom, and Angie Berg and her husband Rod; eleven great grandchildren; her sisters, Mary Needham and Jeanne Dykes and her husband John both of Nottingham, England; and four brothers, Denis Staniforth, Joe Staniforth and his wife Audrey, William Staniforth, and Peter Staniforth and his wife Janice all of Nottingham, England. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Trudy Needham and her husband Bill and Annie Staniforth; and a brother, Percy Staniforth.
