LaVerne Wiederin, 55 of Carroll, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at his residence in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Mass servers will be Ryan and Sarah Klocke. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence Choir with Jean Knobbe as song leader. Lectors for the funeral mass will be LaVerne’s nieces: Wendi Behrens and Lacey Laubscher. Gift Bearers will be LaVerne’s nieces. Eucharistic Ministers will be: LaVerne’s brother-in-law, Ron “Woody” Beyer and Lynette Lehrter and Iola Hoogestraat. Casket Bearers will be LaVerne’s nephews: Chad Wiederin, Jeff Wiederin, Josh Wiederin, Shawn Wiederin, Ron Stoffers Jr., and Brad Kirsch. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Friday where there will be a prayer service at 6 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9 a.m. on Saturday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on June 5, 1957 at Carroll, Iowa, LaVerne Paul Wiederin was the son of Merle and Thelma (Huegerich) Wiederin. He spent his entire life in the Carroll Community and attended Holy Spirit School and later graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1975. Throughout his working career he held several jobs including working for McCann Construction, Trausch Manufacturing and J & J Electric. LaVerne enjoyed socializing with family and friends, playing cards, watching football and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Survivors include his siblings: Lou Ann Stoffers of Omaha, NE, Larry (Sharon) Wiederin of Arcadia, Robert (Mary) Wiederin of Carroll, Gary Wiederin of Lidderdale, Kathy Olson and fiancé Dick Greteman of Carroll, Lynn (Mary) Wiederin of Ralston, Lois (Ron “Woody”) Beyer of Carroll, his twin sister LaVonne (Rick) Richardson of Aransas Pass, TX, and Mike Wiederin of Lidderdale; his sister-in-law, Karlynn Wiederin of Ralston; his brother-in-law, Jerome Kirsch of Carroll; as well as several aunts, uncles, and many nieces and nephews.
LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Shirley Kirsch; his brother Steve Wiederin; his brother-in-law, Ron Stoffers; two great nephews and one great niece.
