Michael Irlbeck, 56, of Carroll, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Music will be by Marcy Anderson, the St. Lawrence Choir with Jake Gute as cantor. Lector for the funeral mass will be Paul Louis. Gift Bearers will be: Curt, Cody, and Cyler Irlbeck. Eucharistic Minister will be Cheryl Stork. Casket Bearers will be: Mark Tiefenthaler, Daryl Reiling, Ed Wehr, Matt Stork, Ron Lingel, Dean Stork, Keith Riley, and Bill Linde. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Friday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation or St. Anthony Hospice.

Born on May 11, 1957 at Carroll, Iowa, Michael was the son of Sylvester and Ardella (Bluml) Irlbeck. He attended Sacred Heart School in Templeton and later graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1975. On September 1, 1979 he married Mary Ann “Mern” Wernimont at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Mike worked in the automotive and farming industries for several years and was currently employed at American Home Shield in Carroll. He enjoyed fixing up his rental properties, working on projects with his boys, and traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Mike was a member of St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll.
Survivors include his wife Mern Irlbeck of Carroll; three sons: Curt Irlbeck and special friend, Leslie Holsapple of West Des Moines, Cody Irlbeck of Carroll, and Cyler Irlbeck of Grand Forks, ND; his mother, Ardella Irlbeck of Templeton; his siblings: Joan Seddon of Templeton, Don (Denise) Irlbeck of Templeton, Jan (Jack) Wafful of Carroll, Gary (Shell) Irlbeck of Templeton, Kevin (Lynn) Irlbeck of Carroll, and Joleen (Tony) Janssen of Glidden; his mother-in-law: Marie Wernimont of Carroll; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Connie (Paul) Louis of Palo, Tom Wernimont of Wisconsin, Carolyn (Dan) Thies of Cedar Rapids, Dick (Marcie) Wernimont of Carroll, Jerry Wernimont of Carroll, and Tim (Renee) Wernimont of North Carolina; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and many friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Irlbeck; his brother, Dale Irlbeck; and his father-in-law, Walt Wernimont.
