Evelyn Wieland, 92 of Carroll, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Con-Celebrants will be Fr. Timothy Johnson and Fr. Robert Gralapp. Music will be by Marcy Anderson, St. Lawrence Choir with Sherry Loughran as cantor. Mass Servers will be: Evan Koster and Haley Heithoff. Lector for the funeral mass will be: Kim Vandendriessche. Gift Bearers will be: Paul and Sharon Vogel and Clarence and Judy Ziegmann. Eucharistic Minister will be, Kathy Stein. Casket Bearers will be: Daryl Loew, Steve Von Dielingen, Dr. Greg Perkins, Jerry Schrad, Emmett Lahr and Andy Vogel. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas and members of Kuemper Catholic Baseball Team will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:30 p.m. on Monday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9 a.m. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Evelyn Louise was born on April 18, 1921 at Breda, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Anna (Fleege) Wess. She spent her younger years in the Breda area and graduated from St. Bernard’s High School with the Class of 1939.
On September 10, 1945, Evelyn married Robert Wieland at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple made their home in Carroll where they raised their children. Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She enjoyed word search books, jigsaw puzzles, traveling to northeastern Iowa in the spring and fall, playing cards, and loved watching Kuemper play baseball. Evelyn was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, and the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Evelyn is survived by: her children: Barbara Hamblen and husband Phil of Denison, George Wieland and wife Barbara of Carroll, Kathy Wieland of Carroll, and Mary Jo Wieland of Carroll; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her sister-in-law: Marie Eich of Ackley; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert in April of 2012; her sisters: Clara Schulte and Lill Heisterkamp; and her brothers: Larry Wess and Linus Wess.
