Lorraine Pawletzki, 77 of Carroll, died Monday, May 18, 2015 at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Music will be by Kate Cuddy and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lector will be Shirley Molitor. Gift Bearers will be Joy Crumby, Angela Gingras, Nicole Page, and Natalie Rosenboom. Eucharistic Ministers will be Shirley Molitor, Lynette Lehrter, and Ann Christiansen. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Nicole Page, Kenneth Pawletzki, Beverly Pawletzki, Natalie Rosenboom, Joy Crumby, Angela Gingras, Perscilla Flores, Lilliana Veloz, Berlyn Veloz, and Gilbert Veloz. Casket Bearers will be Adam Pawletzki, Tyler Pawletzki, Dallas Pawletzki, Ross Pawletzki, Jacob Page, and Heather Stevens. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning where visitation will resume until the time of the funeral mass.

Born on November 3, 1937 at Carroll, Iowa, Lorraine was the daughter of Edward and Mary (Scharfenkamp) Simons. She was raised in Dexter, Iowa, and attended grade school in Stuart, Iowa. Lorraine then attended and graduated from St. Angela’s Academy in Carroll, during that time she lived in the convent. It was during her schooling where she met John Pawletzki, and they were married on June 16, 1956 at All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart. The couple resided in the Carroll community, where Lorraine worked as a nurse’s aide at the local nursing facilities for 42 years.
Lorraine enjoyed playing cards, especially “Royal Rummy”, embroidering, cross-stitching, reading novels, bingo, and cooking. Most of all Lorraine enjoyed the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll.
Left to celebrate Lorraine’s life are her children: Darlene (Robert) Stevens of Yuma, AZ, Richard Pawletzki of Carroll, Randall (Amy) Pawletzki of Arcadia, Denise (Jon) Page of Sac City, Russell (Isabelle) Pawletzki of Yuma, AZ; grandchildren: Joy (Dennis) Crumby, Angela (Anthony) Gingras, Heather Stevens, Adam Pawletzki, Tyler Pawletzki, Ross Pawletzki, Dallas Pawletzki, Nicole Page, Natalie Rosenboom, Jacob Page, Illiana Veloz, Perscilla Flores, Kenneth Pawletzki, Gilbert Veloz, Berlyn Veloz, Beverly Pawletzki; great-grandchildren: Grace Crumby, Faith Crumby, Chase Gingras, Daemon Markins, Hayden Markins, Ainsley Rosenboom, and Conner Rosenboom; siblings: Vincent Simons, Bernie (Robert) Burke, Betty (Cecil) Faust, Gene (Mary Ellen) Simons, Leonard (Mary Agnes) Simons, LeRoy (JoAnn) Simons, and Edward (Margaret) Simons; her brother-in-laws, and sister-in-law: Eugene (Karen) Pawletzki, Deloris (Dennis) Olberding, and Gerald Pawletzki; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband John in 1998; sisters: Rita Meister, and Mary Catherine Simons; and her brothers: Larry Simons, and Andy Simons.
