Bill Schenkelberg, 88 of Carroll, died early Friday morning, October 23, 2015 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Mass servers will be: Payton Schenkelberg and Will Schenkelberg. Lectors for the funeral mass will be Laurie Schenkelberg and Jean Schenkelberg. Gift Bearers will be Alivia Schenkelberg, Courtney Schenkelberg and Hailey Schenkelberg. Eucharistic Minister will be Tim Toohey. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Bill Schenkelberg, Mindy CaVan, Lindsey Cose, Kelli Russell, and Alison Schenkelberg. Casket Bearers will be Adam Schenkelberg, Justin Schenkelberg, Greg Spurgeon, Kurt Spurgeon, Eric Spurgeon, and Ryan Spurgeon. The employees of Schenkelberg Implement will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Monday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m.
The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on January 1, 1927 at Carroll, Iowa, William Lambert was the son of William and Sophie (Schmitz) Schenkelberg. Bill attended grade school in Carroll and later graduated from Carroll High School. Following his schooling he served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946 and following his honorable discharge returned to the Carroll area. Bill was united in marriage to Jean Wernimont on May 19, 1951 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel. Bill started his career with Schenkelberg Manufacturing as an on the road salesman. In 1951, his father purchased the John Deere Dealership which became Schenkelberg Implement. Bill co-owned and operated the business until his retirement but always maintained a vested interest in the business. Over the years Bill and Jean enjoyed wintering in Arizona and traveling in general. Bill loved to play cards, golf, socializing with his friends, and spending time at the Carroll Country Club. Bill’s greatest joy was spending time with his entire family.
Left to celebrate his life is his children: Gary Schenkelberg of Glidden, Tom Schenkelberg of Kansas City, MO, and Debra (Pat) Spurgeon of DeWitt; his grandchildren: Bill Schenkelberg, Adam Schenkelberg, Justin Schenkelberg, Mindy CaVan, Lindsey Cose, Kelli Russell, Greg Spurgeon, Kurt Spurgeon, Eric Spurgeon, Ryan Spurgeon, and Alison Schenkelberg; 14 great-grandchildren; his brother Larry Schenkelberg of Carroll; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Virginia Schenkelberg of LeMars, Gloria Schenkelberg of Carroll, Rose (Mike) Kean of Stewartville, MN, Don (Phyllis) Wernimont of Virginia Beach, VA, and Virginia Wernimont of Atlantic; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jean Schenkelberg; his daughter Pamela Schenkelberg; his sister, Donna (Al) Snyder; his brothers: Alfred Schenkelberg, Paul Schenkelberg, and Marvin Schenkelberg; his brothers-in-law, Wilfred Wernimont and Lester Wernimont; and his nephews: Michael Snyder and Thomas Nees.
