David “Murdock” Riesenberg, 49 of Halbur, died Saturday, April 2, 2016 from injuries received in an automobile accident near Roselle.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, with Fr. Timothy Johnson officiating. Casket Bearers will be Larry Riesenberg, Randy Riesenberg, Gary Riesenberg, Robert Riesenberg, Travis Riesenberg, Jason Riesenberg, Ryan Riesenberg, and Stephen Riesenberg. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery in Roselle.
Visitation will be held at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. as well as one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.

Born on June 12, 1966 at Carroll, Iowa, David was the son of Alvin and Donna (Meister) Riesenberg. He grew up in the Roselle area and attended Holy Angels School, before graduating from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1984. After his schooling he worked for Riesenberg Construction. He then worked for a brief time for R.L. Kraft Roofing in Denison where he was given the nickname Murdock – a name he received for his tenacious work ethic. David then went to work for Naberhaus Implement, where he worked for nearly 30 years. During those years he was known for his “MacGyver” ability to fix anything that was brought to him.
On April 26, 2014 on their farm, David was united in marriage to Carol Porter. In his spare time David enjoyed fishing, camping, working on his acreage, gardening, and canning. In his earlier years David enjoyed golfing and hunting. Most of all he enjoyed his friends, and family especially his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Erica Hudson of Des Moines, Chelsea Phipps of Carroll, and Brandon Kruzic of Carroll; grandchildren: Dawson Warren, Raylynn Butler, and Jaxson Yeager. Also surviving is his mother, Donna Peterson of Carroll, his siblings: Larry (Carolyn) Riesenberg of Omaha, Deb (Ed) Henningsen of Omaha, Randy (Julie) Riesenberg of Carroll, Diane (Alan) Brincks of Mt. Carmel, Gary (Tammy) Riesenberg of Coon Rapids, Robert (Linda) Riesenberg of Carroll, Kathy (Darin) Reid of Flossmoor, IL, and Amy Riesberg (friend Jeff Hernandez) of Carroll; sisters-in-law: Teri (Bob) Vertefeuille of Bremerton, WA, and Shannon (Phil) Feucht of Clarkston, WA; his step-father-in-law: Bernie McClelland of Montana, and step-brother-in-law Michael McClelland of Montana; as well as many niece, nephews, and extended relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his wife Carol in October 2015, his father Alvin in 1986, and his step-father Alan “Buck” Peterson.
